I've read several books on grief after losing my sweet brother to suicide. It absolutely wrecked me. This is one of the best books I read. It's important to do the journal assignments. I'm so sorry that you are even reading reviews on books on grief & that you have had loss in your life. There is life after loss & joy after the mourning but it's not an easy journey. The one thing I wish she went a little more info is that the relationship with the one you lost is still there. She is big on letting go and that is important but so is honoring the relationship you have with the person you lost & learning how to savor the love & the great memories you still have for the one you lost. They aren't here physically but nothing changes the love you have for each other.

God made me aware of my food issues 7 years ago, but I continued to struggle. My daughter recently showed me this book while laughing and it made me sad that she thought of me based upon the cover photo. This book was a breakthrough for me because it opened my eyes to the sin of gluttony. I had never NAMED my sin, repented and asked for God's Forgiveness. Through this act HE has helped me daily to overcome my long time addiction to food. Thankful for this little book as a great support tool that is loaded with wonderful Scripture!!

We cannot change the pass; only how we move forward in it. My prayer is that many others will get a hold of this book. It is very helpful.

I cannot say enough good about this author's books. Where the psychologist leaves off, God begins. This author combines counseling and Jesus Christ. Could there be a better combination? ....... Nope

I read this book after an experience in which I was deeply hurt by rejection. This book provided comfort and a much needed perspective as to why rejection is experienced. I also appreciated how everything was viewed from scripture from the Bible. I will definitely be reading more of June Hunt’s books and will recommend them to people going through difficult times or just wanting to grow.

I purchased this book prior to taking the Property and Casualty state test. I read this book cover to cover and then began studying the offered material for the exams and I had a much better understanding than if I would have jumped right into studying. This book does exactly what is says it does...it dumbs down insurance to a point that anyone can understand and draw their own decisions and conclusions on their own coverage. Whether you want to be an agent or just learn alittle more about insurance in general, this is a great resource.

extremely informative, I am studying for my Property and Casualty exam here in Phoenix and decided to get the very basics from this book 1st and then move into an Arizona specific text with practice exams. This manual was actually designed extremely well, good relevant, practical information for the beginner and every day American. I am glad I took the time to read it and fill out my basic knowledge and understanding of insurance.

This book is a gem. Great for people with little or no background insurance as well people who have a thorough knowledge of insurance.

Every auto or homeowner should read this book--it will pay for itself in a variety of ways, especially by adjusting some deductible upward. Several years ago I started reading my policies, and was shocked at the gaps in my coverage and in one case, from a large, well known name, the paragraph that allowed them to depreciate my boat 10% a year to arrive at a value. My boat is a 2005 model, so they are guaranteeing me I have no damage insurance!The discussion of limits is valuable, especially considering the potential court awards. I always thought I probably overinsured, however it appears my coverage is almost minimal, even though the underlying policies are at the highest limits available in most cases. Thus, the need for an umbrella and as much as you can get and afford.He does overpitch IMO the value of an agent. I never use mine, but I'm proactive now with all policies and review them at least yearly. Frankly I don't trust them, as they cannot possibly know the contents of every underwriter's policy. This is a project for all of us--read and understand your policies--and this book is the perfect guide to get started.

Information is organized nicely and covers all topics most people need to ubderstand. Easy to read and very highly recommended!

I only read the portion dealing with Health Insurance as my family was in the market for a new policy. It did a good job of describing the general principles so that I could speak more intelligently with our insurance agent, but because the copyright is 2009, it is obviously missing details on the Affordable Care Act (aka Obamacare). I have not yet read the other sections, so I cannot comment on those.

If you just want an overview, and a good one at that, this is a good place to start. I was especially impressed with the section on health insurance. This edition was published before the Affordable Care Act, but it still covers Medicare surprisingly well.So I liked the book, but one is constantly reminded that it was written by someone in the insurance business who believes in the product. The more the better. If you're looking for strategies to beat the insurance racket, the pickings are far and few.Nevertheless, for someone who knows very little about insurance (like me), this book will bring you up to speed on the subject very quickly.

I read this book at a time when l was feeling depressed about limitations associated with aging. It put my cares in perspective. I did feel the last few chapters are mostly lists, but that was what was important to her. She wrote this book while still in college. How much more she achieved in the rest of her life.

I read this in 7th grade (45+ years ago) - but it was well worth the re-read.Miss Keller was an amazing woman. Just reading and understanding thatthings were so much simpler then, but the strides being made to help folkswas great. There were several leads to other patients & researchers tofollow up on — which always makes me happy when a subject interests me.

Ms. Keller writes of a life that seems fairly commonplace. She doesn't seem to realize how remarkable her accomplishments are. I suppose given the constraints on her observations of life around her she wasn't able to give any comparisons to other's struggles to try and accomplish what she does. So her story lacks depth. I have read other accounts of Helen Keller's life that I found fascinating. This was supposed to be illustrated but there were no pictures in this book. I was unable to finish this.

I have read the entire Mitford series multiple times and have all the books in hardback, but also read the covers off a set of paperbacks. I just started reading them on Kindle and still find the stories to be so fresh and uplifting. They take me to a place I want to live. Can't wait to start the next book... again!

If population statistics were normalized, Helen Keller's STORY OF MY LIFE would rank among the most popular/translated books of the last 150 years. I believe I once read that, after the Bible, it was for a time the most common book in the American home. And with good reason. All the more reason to applaud this "Restored Classic" edition; no mere reprint, instead is is a multi-layered and multi-angled presentation of the original text edited by Roger Shattuck with Dorothy Herrmann. For me, besides the historical information contextulaized Keller's long and variegated career, the most moving revelations are the supplementary accounts by Anne Sullivan (her teacher) and John Macy (Sullivan's husband). I recommend these, especially Sullivan's "Letters and Reports", to any reader interested in pedagogy in many a field including but hardly limited to "special ed". The Forward, the Appendices, the Notes, the Afterword --- I can't speak highly enough of this disciplined and empassioned variety of scholarship. For teachers who may be feeling -- at whatever stage in ther careers, somewhat lost at sea, this is bedrock material and ground to stand on.

This was an amazing young lady, I have visited her home in Florence, and was very amazed with the place and the story about her life. If you get a chance to go to Florence, Ala. DO so you want regret it.

The copyright page states that this is a work of fiction??? "This book is a work of fiction and any resemblance to any person, living or dead..." What's with that? Also, this copy has no dedication to Alexander Graham Bell. It is poorly put together as one has to pull the pages back as the type disappears into the binding. Is this a pirated copy? Shame on Amazon!

Whether you're conducting large sample research projects or small ones, "Quantifying the user experience" is the most comprehensive and pragmatic statistical handbook I've seen that systematically explains various statistical methods for drawing reliable conclusions or determining the optimal sample sizes. Great resource for conducting surveys, A/B tests or (and here they really shine) small sample usability testing projects.Rather than starting with a description of various statistical theories, the authors begin with specific user research scenarios and then introduce the theoretical methods they feel most suitable for planning or analyzing these scenarios. They don't shy away from sharing their pragmatic preferences for particular methods, based on their own experience working in the field.I find the book useful also beyond user experience testing scenarios - it is a great resource for any user-oriented research, including various types of marketing research.

I've been waiting for a book like this for a long time. Most of my user research consulting work is qualitative, but I'm periodically faced with running benchmark usability studies or designing other quantitative user research projects that involve inferential statistics. No more dusting off old college stats textbooks. This book and its Excel and R Companion book are a one-stop shop for determining appropriate quantitative research methods and statistical tests to use in UX work. The authors draw many practical examples from usability studies, tie statistical theory together with practice when using small sample sizes, and even include a crash course in statistical concepts as an appendix. I've been a fan of Jeff Sauro's website for several years now and am very pleased that he and Jim Lewis have authored this exceptional resource.

This book is one of my most used resources and does an excellent job explaining some of the statistical concepts ALL ux researchers should be aware of. It also uses some of the more recent statistical tools, analysis, and procedures and I would consider it quite accurate and up to date. This is a must have for Quant UX researchers!

Extremely valuable book. Will be useful for practitioners and managers of user experience. I've been practicing user research for two decades and a book like this is long overdue. The authors cover the foundations of quantitative user research and present a number of leading edge ideas. They present complex formulas in a way that allows those with just basic skills in statistics to still leverage the techniques presented. They even show you the back of the napkin math on the back of a napkin!The decision maps for application of specific techniques and the discussion of statistical controversies will be particularly useful for intermediate practitioners. Also, there are copious references which provide for additional learning, reference, and citations to apply to your own research.

Quantifying the User Experience - Practical Statistics for User Research has been instrumental in my thesis and dissertation related to ERP usability analysis. Sauro and Lewis combine to bring real work pragmatic examples of methods for analyzing data esp., as it relates to small populations of data - often what you have as you process your experiments. The information is laid out very clearly, with examples of usability statistical operations throughout the book. I highly recommend this book to anyone doing usability research and analysis.

So far it has been great. I enjoy how the book is organized by questions rather that vague- all encompassing topic. Everything you read has an example. The one downside is that the book and workbook constantly reference an excel calculator that is about $400. I hate to say things are overpriced, but It is way out of the range of any student learner. I won't let it get me down though, still a great book
