This was one of the best books repairing tanks of the German army. There should be more books like these. I've been collecting books mainly Russian front 41-45 since 1973. Most of my books come from Fedorowicz. If you want to see what it was repairing armor in WWII this is the book.

Stunning! This is the second volume and I hope there are more. This book was published by the wonderful people who have done the Panzerwrecks series. I am very happy with this new book.
The story continues...The same outstanding quality as Vol. 1.
Volume 2 of this series is a much anticipated and worthy follow up to volume 1 of repairing the Panzers. This book brings a wealth of information and detail on WWII German armour. The photographs are real gems. What intrigues is the imaginative ways in which Germany tried both to maintain and hold on to its small tank force, if compared to that of the allies.There no other books on this topic with this kind of photographic evidence and detail in my opinion. Mr Friedli has produced a masterful compilation of the subject matter, and his books are exceptional in all aspects.I am sure this book would be of benefit to the avid modellers as well as a History buff on the use of repairing Amour and its various issues of battle recovery, as well as, the recovery in the most extreme of conditions. I cannot recommend this title strongly enough and have thus rated a worthy 5 stars.
There is quite a bit of information in this book for WWII armor enthusiasts (and for WWII historians in general). Two particular examples are the specific K.St.N. (organization) of maintenance units and lots of photographic documentation. The reason for rating it 4 stars instead of 5 is due to the high price. It's worth around $32.00 but not the $54.00 originally paid (the current $41.00 price is a bit more reasonable). However, those not on a fixed low-income may ignore this bit of bias.As to the title of this review, this book shows another link in a chain of evidence that led to Germany's total defeat in WWII. It describes, in very good detail, the improvisations forced on HEER(Army) (and SS) panzer troops. It also busts the myth of German efficiency. Had a little more thought gone into providing for Panzer maintenance, more panzers (tanks) would have gone back into battle. Having more tanks available for combat, alone, could not have prevented defeat, only delay it some. What might have changed the course of history, in WWII, is Nazi Germany not having to improvise so much in virtually all aspects of its operations.This book is a very good chronicle in one aspect of the many ways men in the field had to adapt and overcome enormous obstacles. For the present price of $41.00, "Repairing the Panzers..." is well worth the investment.
